A Home for Troubled Teens
The House of Hope of Western New York, Inc. is a Christian, all-denominational ministry for troubled teens and their families. Currently we minister as a non-residential counseling center with future hopes of residential housing. Mission StatementHouse of Hope Western New York serves troubled teens and their families by supporting efforts at strengthening family relationships and establishing healthy behavior patterns.Presently we provide non-residential service and academic support through Hope Academy, a tutoring and home-school program. Our long term goals include a residential program, a runaway shelter and an after-foster care support for 18-23 year-olds. What we doWe provide a non-residential service to teens 13-17 and their families to turn “… the hearts of the fathers and mothers to their children and the hearts of the children to their fathers and mothers.” Malachi 4:6 . We also operate Hope Academy, a tutoring and home schooling program to help our teens develop life skills, graduate from High School, provide community service and dream about a successful future. Hope Academy also provides classes on marriage, communication skills and parenting to assist and promote a peaceful and joyous family life and parental leadership. Our families are with us 12 to 18 months; however, it is our goal to restore the family to self-sufficiency as soon as possible. We are an all-denominational Christian program with competent staff from all major Christian traditions. We exist because: Ø 3,000 children per day see their parents’ marriage end in divorce Ø 40% of children go to bed in a home without a father Ø One out of every three girls is sexually abused Ø Each year there are 340,000 teen abortions Ø In the last ten years juvenile offenders for drug use increased 229% Ø 9 out of 10 teens experience internet pornography Ø The phenomenon of self-mutilation (cutting) as a way of dealing with emotional pain increases annually Ø 1,500 teens commit suicide each year. Suicide is the #1 cause of teen death. House of Hope Western New York is part of a national movement committed to healing America’s teens and is affiliated with the National House of Hope, a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors. We use a successful program tested over 25 years at the original House of Hope in Orlando, Florida, and used by over 50 affiliated Houses of Hope across the United States. We respect religious freedom and offer our services to anyone regardless of spiritual tradition or lack of such. There is hope.
